Rotary Club of Nottingham Children of Courage Awards

20.5.26

It was a pleasure to be invited and attend Rotary Club of Nottingham Children of Courage Awards today.

We attended the event with our Champion Ambassador Lucie, her son Matthew and dad John. We're very proud to work with the Nottingham Rotary Club and to be part of this inspirational event.

Matthew is now 11, lives with a rare brain disorder, Extensive Nodular Heterotopia, and attended Footprints from an early age, coming to our pre school Conductive Education sessions and then subsequently attending our ‘gym club’ sessions for older and school aged children.

Matthew has recently delighted both his family and teachers, and actually everyone who knows him (including the Footprints team!), by being able to spell a huge number of words using his communication device.

Matthew lights up the room and has such an impact on everyone who has the pleasure of meeting and spending time with him, demonstrating every day his resilience, hard work and courage.

Footprints’ Head of Service Erika, who has known Matthew since he was a toddler said “a boy full of love, potential and joy! So proud of Matthew and his family, their belief in a brighter future will continue to take them on so many wonderful journeys yet to be experienced!”

It was also a lovely surprise to see our Young Ambassador George with his family, and a message from our Patron Richard Whitehead for the event.
